S.M.A.R.T. IMPLEMENTATION COSTS
These cost are estimated in order to give sites a realistic sense of related expenses. For that reason, the costs include estimated travel expenses when flights are involved, assume 40 people attending, etc.; each site should consult with the MLRC office for specific locations.

Training:
S.M.A.R.T. Workshop Base Fee

Training Materials per participant:
- SMART Manual - $50 per manual. This is used throughout the 4 day workshop and as a reference tool when implementing the program.
- S.M.A.R.T. Curriculum Guide - $40 per manual. This is used throughout the 4 day workshop and as a reference tool when implementing the program.
- Make & Take materials for training session - $35 per person. These materials are used by participants to create items they will take back to the school with them so they can immediately start implementing the program.

In addition to the base fee and material costs, additional other expenses include: |

Travel Expenses for 3 member S.M.A.R.T. Team
These include airfare, rental car and gas, mileage, hotels, food and shipment of materials to the workshop site (materials do not always from our Minneapolis location, as they may come from a different workshop location).
If the number of participants is larger than 40, it is left up to the discretion of the MLRC to send another presenter and the additional cost of that will be $1,500 plus expenses.

Additional Costs
The host site is expected to pay for:
- Rental Space for the Workshop
- Substitute teachers for anyone attending the workshop
- Meals, snacks and beverages for the participants during the workshop. The MLRC can provide the host site with a list of suggestions for snacks and meals.
- Pencils, pens, post it notes, highlighters for participants.

Travel Expenses for S.M.A.R.T. Mentor
(costs will vary dependent on whether flights are required, etc.)

It is recommended that each school involved in the S.M.A.R.T. program receive onsite mentoring. This service is provided by a S.M.A.R.T. Mentor from the MLRC. It is recommended that S.M.A.R.T. schools receive this mentoring at least five times in each school year for the first two years of implementation and at least three times in the third year.
S.M.A.R.T. Replication Cost Estimates:
Materials:
- Approximately $1000 per school , dependent on what is already available:
- Gym mats
- Overhead ladder (blueprint is included in S.M.A.R.T. manual. Typically constructed by school maintenance, high school industrial tech students or volunteers)
- Games and activities
- Telebinocular (While this equipment is not necessary, it is helpful in determining a child's current visual abilities. The cost is approximately $1100)
