Dear Readers - Happy New Year! It is hard to believe the school year is half over! As the new legislative session begins, we at the MLRC are gearing up to meet with education committee members to share with them our progress across the state over the past two years. We also look to all of you to contact your local senate and house members as well to let them know of your impressions of the S.M.A.R.T. program and specifically of the training and follow-up mentoring provided through legislative funding. We will be in touch shortly with information on how to best contact those members.
This current e-newsletter contains some great articles on Reflexes and how those play such an important role in a child's behavior and classroom performance. We also share information on the importance of healthy food choices for the brain AND, for those of you who are in your fourth year or beyond, how to keep your school and classroom S.M.A.R.T.!
We are lucky to have teachers like Prior Lake's Carol Lindroos willing to share how she keeps S.M.A.R.T. fun for her Kindergarteners so you will want to read her comments, too.
As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions. We look forward to working with you in the months ahead! Nancy Farnham
