Spring 2009
Teachers’ Daily Reflections on Their S.M.A.R.T. Training
QUOTES FROM SUMMER 2008 S.M.A.R.T. WORKSHOPS
- Day 1 – Well, where to even begin. . . .there were so many “ah-ha” moments and things just seemed to make sense. I wondered throughout the class why they don’t teach you this in college, why didn’t anyone ever tell this all to me before, oh my goodness all those poor children I got frustrated with because they couldn’t sit still or stay in their chair. The S.M.A.R.T. program seems to be a program that encompasses all the pieces that were floating off in space and has brought them together in what seems to be a very user-friendly format. (K – Red Wing. MN)
- Day 2 – I learned so much valuable information today! I wish this workshop was longer so we could have more time to learn about everything. I’m so glad they’re giving us all these resources and suggestions for further reading and research. I am going to choose some activities from each area to implement in my classroom right away, then I will try more as I get comfortable. (Grade 1 – Fosston, MN)
- Day 3 – As I listened today, I felt excited and motivated to incorporate S.M.A.R.T. into my 2nd gr. curriculum. It is a struggle for my little kids to succeed sometimes and oh, how I wish I could grab some of my students from last year and start all over again. If only I knew the great core S.M.A.R.T. activities to do daily – I know they would have helped. (Grade 2 – LeCenter, MN)
- Day 4 - S.M.A.R.T. overall will change my teaching! I can picture so many past students who could have used the program to be successful. I feel hopeful that I will be able to help many more students this year with the help of S.M.A.R.T. (Grade 2 – Jeffers Pond, Prior Lake, MN)
