Who We Are
The Minnesota Learning Resource Center (MLRC) is the training department of A Chance to Grow (ACTG), a nonprofit agency located in northeast Minneapolis that helps all children, including those with learning challenges, developmental delays, and brain injuries, reach their highest potential. Established in 1999 via funding from the state legislature, the MLRC continued to receive legislative funding for a number of years for the statewide replication of ACTG’s most popular intervention, S.M.A.R.T., and two other programs, H.S.A.S. and Neurotechnology. Two major grants from the U.S. Department of Education allowed for similar replication at the national level. The department’s team of professionals, which includes former teachers, physical educators, occupational therapists, vision therapists, reading specialists, principals and administrators, currently provide workshops and on-site mentoring to professionals across the state and nation who work with children. All of the interventions are designed to increase understanding of child neurophysiological development and provide the tools to enhance students’ learning readiness skills.
