Schools interested in becoming S.M.A.R.T. sites, recognized as Designated Learning Sites, agree to:

  • Assemble a core group of 4 – 5 staff members responsible for program implementation
  • Have their principal participate with staff in either the full workshop or attend an overview
  • Pay a portion of staff training costs
  • Administer required pre and post-testing
  • Incorporate the required 80 hours of program implementation
The MLRC underwrites the other portion of training and also provides follow-up mentoring, at no cost to the DLS, via the state and federal funding.

The relationship between MLRC and DLS is formalized through a signed Agreement of Expectations form.

Apply to become a DLS

Schools wishing to become a DLS  must go through an application process and may contact the MLRC at mlrc@actg.org or 612-706-5549 to request an application.  MLRC professionals also welcome individuals or groups interested in visiting A Chance to Grow/New Visions Academy to learn more about the programs. It can be very helpful for an interested school to visit a nearby S.M.A.R.T. school, many of which are willing to share their experience with interested sites. Such visits can be established by contacting the MLRC office.
